Tango, waltz, jazz
The program includes the best tangos from the collection of the Golden Age, the Tango of Carlos Gardeoja from the movie "The Smell of a Woman", the compositions of the king of tango Astor Piazzolla most beloved by the audience, as well as magnificent waltz opuses, jazz music, Spanish songs - everything that will allow the audience to immerse themselves in festive atmosphere and cheer up. The performers are the Astor Club orchestra conducted by Ivan Lebedev, a unique pianist and arranger. The House of TsAGI Scientists opened in 1995.
The initiators of its creation came up with the idea of preserving the spiritual traditions that have always been inherent in the Russian scientific intelligentsia. That is why the emblem of the HOUSE is the Phoenix bird, a symbol of eternal renewal, and the motto is "Win with love ...".
The House of Scientists is not only a traditional venue for scientific and technical conferences, seminars and business meetings TsAGI scientists, but also a unique center of culture and art in our city, with its own small but bright history.
We can boast of a whole galaxy of bright names who performed on our stage.

In one of the local newspapers, published many years ago, one could read the following words: "This place has its own face, characterized by sophistication, intimacy, attention to everyone who enters it." These lines, which are relevant even today, refer to the magnificent building of the classical style, which today houses the House of TsAGI Scientists. Almost the same age as Zhukovsky, this architectural monument has seen and experienced a lot - there were periods of prosperity and decline, at the turn of recent decades of the last century, he was completely destined to be buried under the foam of days and practically sink into oblivion - but only in order to be reborn as a Phoenix and sparkle brighter than before. Whatever times are in the yard, people are still drawn to the beautiful. Perhaps this explains the enormous popularity of the TsAGI House of Scientists among the people - the concentration of beauty per square meter is incredibly high here.
Today, scientific seminars, conferences are held here, concerts of world-famous performers and creative evenings by all recognized artists are held here. Probably, it would not be an exaggeration to say that the cultural and scientific heart of the city, and, perhaps, of our entire region, beats within the walls of the TsAGI House of Scientists.
LOOKING THROUGH A DECADE
The history of the building, which houses the TsAGI House of Scientists, dates back to the late forties of the last century. Then the future temple of culture was known to the residents of the city as the Rodina club. The building was designed by the architect Alexander Brod. The first stone was laid in early December 1948, and twelve months later, in December 1949, a special commission took the new club into operation. It was built mainly by our specialists, however, German prisoners of war were involved as free labor. Twenty-four lindens were planted around the building, and a lattice fence was installed. I must say that this building is an example of a typical Stalinist building - until now, in many cities of the former USSR, you can see exactly the same architectural structures. Nevertheless, the new handsome club stood out very much against the background of the surrounding landscape. No wonder - fields with potatoes and gardens are spread around (do not forget that Zhukovsky received the status of a city only in 1947). At that time, the city consisted mainly of barracks, only a few brick houses were built here. The life of people was distinguished by Spartan simplicity. Some families had radios, but this was rather an exception - as a rule, pre-war loudspeakers were used to communicate with the outside world. And then no one even heard about televisions. And suddenly, against this background, a classical-style building with Ionic columns, with a cast-iron fence, is erected! Naturally, the new club seemed like a real palace. This feeling only intensified when a person crossed its threshold: the interior decoration amazed with magnificent stucco, chandeliers sparkled, columns shot up ... A huge mirror in the foyer reflected unprecedented beauty. This place was destined to become the cultural center of the entire city for the next few decades.
On the first floor of the club there was a cinema with three hundred seats. According to the recollections of an eyewitness of those times: “Then there were many interesting films: The Three Musketeers, Rembrandt, The Lady of the Camellias, they also went to Indian films with pleasure. The four-part picture "Tarzan" was especially popular. Movies were shown about once every two days, so the hall was almost always full, there was a queue for tickets. Respectable serious people went to the evening sessions, while the audience was simpler to the daytime ones. At the same time, ideological work was constantly carried out: reports were always read before the shows, photo showcases and posters often represented visual propaganda. A bust of Stalin always stood on the stage of the cinema, but during the screenings it was pushed behind the side curtains.
Subsequently, in the Rodina club, in addition to the cinema, various circles and sections began to function. There were five in total: two orchestras (brass and folk instruments), as well as drama, vocal and dance groups. With the advent of the theater studio, to the stormy joy of the entire cast, a curtain appeared on the stage for the first time. Cultural life was in full swing: concerts, performances, dances, children's matinees, youth evenings were held, there were also meetings with actors and musicians from Moscow. Often invited famous writers– including K.M. Simonov, A.T. Tvardovsky, F.I. Panferov. Various lectures were given to the audience from the stage of the club - on the situation in the world, on history, medicine, literature, art. Up to twenty events were held per month.
Years passed, people's preferences changed. One of the visitors of the club recalls: “In the 50s and 60s, they danced tango, waltz, but they were already beginning to get involved in rhythmic dances. Music of the time: Elvis Presley, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra. They also listened to classical jazz - Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. On weekends there were six screenings a day, tickets cost 20-30 kopecks. They showed Soviet and American films - "Carnival Night", "Only Girls in Jazz" and others. In general, then everyone was fond of films about scouts. Ice cream and wine were always sold in the club's buffet.
In the eighties, an idea appeared to unite the creative youth of the city under the roof of Rodina. During this period, several clubs were located here at once - disco, jazz, an amateur song club, as well as theatre studio and rock band. Young people enjoyed relaxing here in their free time from work and study. Discotheques were held once or twice a week, New Year's Eve evenings, KVNs were held. Everything was fine, until suddenly perestroika burst into the club's activities. Active "headed" youth began to leave in all directions. The cinema, which by the end of the Soviet era had practically ceased to function, was finally closed. The building gradually fell into decay, began to simply collapse. Over the next few years, Rodina Club was mothballed.
NEW LIFE
The nineties were a difficult time for the whole country. In troubled times, the city and people, more than ever, were in dire need of high-quality spiritual food. In 1995, it was decided to breathe into the Rodina club building new life to fill it with new cultural content. Thus, the idea of creating the TsAGI House of Scientists was born. At its origins were the head of the social department of TsAGI Olga Aslambekovna Bessolova, the conductor of the famous choir "Credo" Elena Ivanovna Stuart and the second director of the House of Scientists Tatyana Gennadievna Semikova.
Initially, it was planned that TsAGI employees with their families would rest here (hence the name - the House of Scientists), but then everyone began to come here, and today, nineteen years later, it is impossible to imagine cultural and cultural life without this place. creative life Zhukovsky.
So, the building gradually began to be put in order - not all at once, gradually. When carrying out repairs, the primary task was to preserve the unique interior decor, not to damage the stucco molding, capitals on the colonnade, and stained-glass windows. To the credit of the workers of the House of Scientists, they managed to defend all this. Today the building is almost sixty-five years old, and it is one of the oldest and, at the same time, beautiful buildings in Zhukovsky.
SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
Today, the TsAGI House of Scientists is, first of all, a platform for holding scientific and technical conferences, seminars, business meetings of the Institute's employees both at the local, all-Russian and international levels. Since the opening, a huge number of scientific readings, discussions on the most important issues of science and technology, and interuniversity events have taken place here.
It can be said that the House of Scientists is a kind of intellectual club, in which all conditions for cultural leisure of the scientific intelligentsia of the city and the region are created. Evenings in memory of prominent TsAGI scientists are regularly held within these walls. People come here to rest their soul and heart, and then return with renewed vigor to the most important work for the whole country. For almost two decades, the House of Scientists has been visited by many people who personify and move forward the science, history, and politics of modern Russia.
Director of the TsAGI House of Scientists Tatyana Konstantinovna Nazarova says: “Since September 2012, the House of Scientists has been the scientific and technical research center of TsAGI. Today, in addition to cultural events, seminars, business negotiations, and meetings are also held within these walls. For example, within the framework of the recently held MAKS air show, three major conferences were held here with the participation of foreign guests. And next year, when new multimedia equipment with the possibility of simultaneous translation is installed in the House of Scientists, we will be able to hold major international conferences.”
CONCERT ACTIVITIES
For eighteen seasons (from 1995 to 2013) a huge number of various cultural events took place in the House of Scientists. If we talk about concert activity, then here, basically, four directions are developing: classical music, jazz, bard song and vocals.
- classical music
Perhaps the largest number of artists performed here in the genre of instrumental creativity. At the dawn of the activities of the House of Scientists, mostly young musicians were invited - students of the Moscow Conservatory and various musical universities. Thus, the world-famous pianist Ekaterina Mechetina performed here for the first time when she was a third-year student at the conservatory. Since then, she has returned thirteen times.
Despite the fact that at first they had to limit themselves to concerts of little-known performers, of course, they dreamed of performances by world celebrities. And these dreams were destined to come true: over the next few years, about fifty concerts of the world's best pianists took place on the stage of the House of Scientists. Over time, this venue has become recognizable among piano music performers, and many artists are happy to come here again and again. More than once such illustrious masters as People's Artist of the USSR Nikolai Petrov, People's Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev, People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Lugansky, Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Gindin, winners of many international competitions Dmitry Lutsiev, Dmitry Teterin and others performed here. foreigners, for example, the English pianist Frederick Kempf (Great Britain), Victor Galindo (USA) and many other famous names.
The performances of the winners of the First Prize of the International Tchaikovsky Competition remained in the memory of the public for a long time. P.I. Tchaikovsky violinists Nikolai Sachenko and Denis Shapovalov. Associate Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Yevgeny Petrov, soloist of the orchestra conducted by Yuri Bashmet Tatyana Oskolkova and many other remarkable musicians played in the hall of the House of Scientists. The first jazz evening at the House of Scientists took place in April 1995, and since then sold-out concerts for fans of this musical direction have been constantly held here. Among the many famous jazzmen on this stage were such luminaries of the genre as People's Artist of Russia Alexei Kuznetsov, head of the jazz and improvisation department of the Russian Academy of Music. Gnesinykh Igor Bril, founder of Russian jazz-rock and the first Soviet jazz group "Arsenal" Alexei Kozlov, People's Artist of Russia Daniil Kramer. Venerable artists brought with them or advised to invite new musicians who were just taking their first steps in jazz. Thus, new names were opened (and continue to be opened), and at the same time the circle of potential guests of the House of Scientists was expanding.

The House of Scholars has also reached a very high level in the field of bardic song. Zhukovsky residents and guests of the city have repeatedly had the opportunity to see and hear the founders of the author's song, on whose work more than one generation has grown up - Alexander Gorodnitsky, Sergey Nikitin, Leonid Sergeyev, Yuli Kim (two years ago our magazine made material about his concert), Galina Khomchik , The People's Artist of Russia Zhanna Bichevskaya performed twice with a full house - the audience applauded her while standing. Musical evenings dedicated to the work of bards who have already left have been repeatedly held. The opera was performed here for the first time in February 1996 - it was children's performance"Golden Chicken" performed by the artists of the theater "Helikon-Opera". Since then, vocal evenings began to appear in the repertoire of the House of Scientists quite often. Over the years, the famous Opera singer Yana Ivanilova, owner of the amazing contralto Lina Mkrtchyan (once she performed in the Vatican in front of the Pope), soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Ahmed Agadi, soloist of the Opera Theater. K. Stanislavsky and V. Nemirovich-Danchenko Olga Lutsiv-Ternovskaya and many other artists of this wonderful genre.
SPECIAL PUBLIC AND UNIQUE ATMOSPHERE
Almost all artists who come to the House of Scientists perform on the stage of the main auditorium, designed for three hundred seats. The entrance to it is preceded by a musical foyer - small chamber evenings, literary drawing rooms and exhibitions are held here. On the second floor there are large and small living rooms used for seminars, negotiations, friendly tea parties with actors, musicians, and singers.
The pride of the House of Scientists is the famous Yamaha grand piano, which was purchased by the first director of the School of Education, Elena Ivanovna Stuart, in the Glinka Museum. The instrument is rare, numbered, today it is a real decoration of the concert hall. The artistic director of the House of Scientists, Natalya Evgenievna Ivanova, says: “All the musicians who have ever played here note the surprisingly soft, velvety, deep sound of our piano. Many, coming to us once again, greet the instrument as an old friend. And our old dream is an organ. I am sure that someday the sounds of this marvelous instrument will sound in the hall of the House of Scientists. Hopefully it will happen on our 20th anniversary."
Special mention should be made of the local spectator - he is special here, unique in his own way. Tatyana Konstantinovna Nazarova says: “At our concerts you can see spectators not only from Zhukovsky, but also from Moscow, from Ramenskoye, from other cities of the Moscow region. Despite the rather wide geography, they all have one thing in common - this is a special audience, very sensitive and subtle, incredibly well understanding music. Our spectators always clearly react to what is happening with applause, cordially supporting worthy performers. If an artist (even with a big name) performs mediocrely, silence will be his reward.
When the famous bard singer Galina Khomchik performed with us, she uttered a phrase that I really like to quote when talking about our audience: “There are halls with which you breathe the same way. Your gym is one of those." It's really true. I know that many artists come to us not for money, but, as they say, for the audience's response to their work. And I am never ashamed of our guests.”
NEW SEASON IS OPEN!
- annual ball in the costumes of the Elagin Palace
In September, a new, nineteenth season opened at the House of Scientists, which will last until next summer. And already in October, the audience will have an unforgettable beauty and entertainment event - the fourth annual ball in the costumes of the Elagin Palace in St. Petersburg. The first such ball was held in 2009, becoming over these few years calling card, a real decoration of the cultural life of the House of Scientists. The idea of holding this event belongs to Natalya Evgenievna Ivanova:
“Once on TV I saw footage of a ball from the Vienna Opera and literally got excited about the idea of holding something similar here, in the House of Scientists. We started looking dance groups, call up with various organizations that hold balls - but all this was not right, nothing suited us, And so, while in St. pass. It was my dream ball! Exactly the way I imagined it - with great organization, with amazing costumes! When I returned home, I literally infected everyone with my emotions (laughs). In the end, we decided to try and, as it turned out, not in vain. The very first ball made a real sensation!
Perhaps one of the main components of such success with people is amazing costumes. Dresses with crinolines, camisoles, tailcoats, hussar uniforms - all this is delivered by the ball stewards directly from the Elagin Palace. All costumes are handmade, most of them are made at the Mariinsky Theatre. The most interesting thing is that the outfits are selected individually for each person. The employees of the House of Scientists are doing a lot of preliminary work - within a month they collect data on the size of people (height, shoulder circumference, waist circumference, etc.), after which suits are brought specially for them. That is why the number of participants in the ball is always limited - usually there are about thirty-five people.
“Changing into these wonderful costumes, everyone is transferred to the unforgettable atmosphere of the nineteenth century palace celebration. Ordinary people living in our harsh reality, suddenly, as in a fairy tale about Cinderella, turn into secular ladies and gallant gentlemen. It's beyond words, you have to see it, you have to participate in it! Everyone knows that women like to dress up and look beautiful. But what to talk about, if even men, seeing themselves in the mirror, stop in surprise! Each person at the ball is transformed, because the costume, among other things, is very obliging - this is both posture, and demeanor, carrying on a conversation ... Believe me, it is very difficult to change a person back into ordinary everyday clothes - no one wants to do this ”(laughs).
The ball includes different dances - from polonaise to polka. A specially invited dance master helps to understand the basic movements, introduces the ball participants to the peculiarities of court etiquette. In between dances, small entertainment programs and performances by artists are provided. And at the end of the event, as a rule, there is a big photo shoot. This year, as before, along with adults, there will also be a children's ball.
- "Evenings at the tables"
Another regular event of the House of Scientists is "Evenings at the Tables". These are peculiar theme nights dedicated to different countries and continents. Guests have the opportunity to get acquainted with the traditions, style of clothing, culinary preferences of other peoples, join their national culture. Many come with families, children prepare for these holidays in advance - they learn geography, history, look for costumes ... To date, the House of Scientists has hosted evenings dedicated to Greece, France, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, Korea. The Hungarian evening was especially bright, which, by the way, was attended by the ambassador of this country in Russia. "Evenings at the tables" is planned to be held in the new season.
- "Rainbow Jazz"
As part of impromptu jazz cafes, a program called "Rainbow of Jazz" continues this season. Once upon a time, people came to the first jazz cafe, adding one or another orange touch to their image - whether it was an element of clothing, decoration or accessory. It could be a tie, a flower in a buttonhole, a handkerchief… Since then it has become a beautiful tradition, there was even an idea to unite “colored” meetings under the common name “Rainbow of Jazz”. The next such event is October 28. A red evening awaits guests, and the famous jazzman Marat Galeev is on the stage of the House of Scientists.
- art exhibitions
For nineteen years of its activity in exhibition hall The Houses of Scientists hosted exhibitions of more than sixty artists, not only from Moscow and the Moscow region, but also from other cities of Russia. Last year, after a creative workshop was equipped in the House of Scientists, several creative interest clubs began their work here. Probably one of the most popular trends is Chinese painting. The lesson is structured as follows: first, an introductory conversation is held, then the teacher begins to teach the basic elements of a particular Chinese school of painting. All this is necessarily accompanied by a tea ceremony, national music sounds. Meetings have a pronounced meditative connotation. And most importantly, for classes in the club you do not need to be able to draw. On the contrary, any kind of skills only harm, because any artist, whether he wants it or not, has a certain stamped consciousness. In the traditions of the Celestial Empire, the “open field”, so to speak, is highly valued. This course introduces the rules for making bouquets of various shapes and purposes - gift, holiday, Christmas and Easter, etc. Students learn the secrets of composing compositions from fresh flowers using various natural materials (leaves, berries, dried flowers). One of the first was a lecture by Boris Alexandrovich Smirnov, dedicated to the poetry of Maximilian Voloshin. Subsequently, they read cycles about the poets of the Golden and Silver Ages, about the famous noble estates of Russia, about Russian philosophers - more than a hundred of the most interesting meetings. Huge attention of the female population of Zhukovsky was attracted by a lecture by a psychologist, professor of Moscow State University, author of the bestseller “Communicate with a child. How?" Yulia Borisovna Gippenreiter.
Natalya Evgenievna Ivanova says: “One of the most, in my opinion, interesting lectures read here is “An extraordinary look at the history of our country”. It is read by a member of the Writers' Union of Russia, historian, publicist Valentina Borovitskaya.
